My story
My journey in education started thousands of miles away from where I am today.
For 15 years, I ran my own English language school in Argentina while completing an MA in Education and Professional Development through the University of East Anglia (UEA) and NILE (Norwich Institute for Language Education), studying partly at a distance and partly in Norwich.
Then life took me in a completely new direction.
I moved to England. That moment marked the beginning of a journey that would transform my career.
I joined UEA as a tutor and, alongside my teaching, completed a PhD, researching language and intercultural education. Over time, I became an Advance HE Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and embraced opportunities that took me beyond the classroom into leadership, research and international collaboration.
More than 20 years have passed since I first walked through the doors of UEA. During that time, I held several leadership roles, including Associate Dean International for the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. I also led British Council-funded projects in Argentina and Uzbekistan and shared my work through publications and conference presentations around the world.
One of the proudest moments of my career came when I was awarded the Advance HE National Teaching Fellowship, the highest recognition for teaching excellence in higher education in the UK. For me, it was more than an award. It was a reminder of how far I had travelled, from running a language school in Argentina to becoming a professor in a British university.
Today, as Professor Emerita at UEA, I work independently with educators, professional services staff and language learners who are navigating their own personal and professional journeys. Having travelled these paths myself, I understand both the opportunities and the challenges.

Advance HE Fellowship mentoring

Guidance is available for Associate Fellowship (AFHEA), Fellowship (FHEA) and Senior Fellowship (SFHEA).

For educators, professional services staff and students working in universities, colleges, pre-sessional or foundation year contexts, pathway providers and other tertiary education settings in the UK and internationally.
For those whose first language is not English, a minimum English level of B2 (CEFR) is recommended, as Fellowship applications are submitted in English.
